Backup data during production time

I need to take a data backup for 10 GB avery active database during
production time. Is it affect the server performance? generate locks....

Backup doesn't lock data or wais for locks. But it will consume resources (reading all data,
possibly from disk if not in cache and writing the data to backup media).

backing up to a share from an sql 2000 cluster

Hi there,
Does any know a way of backing up to a share from an sql
2000 active/active cluster. I have no problems doing this
for stand alone installtions of sql 2000, but just can't
seem to get it to work from a cluster.
any help appreciated

This shouldn't be an issue. What exactly is the problem you are having?
