I've heard that backups are compatible across all versions of SQL Server
2005, but haven't yet found this in print from MS.
Does anyone know of a link or document to verify or refute this?
TIA,

If you mean within 2005 yes. Can I find a document, no but consider the
engine is the same across all, just with different options, I can't imagine
it would be any other way.
Having said that, because of ENGINE differences, you may have issues. I
doubt you could restore a database larger than 4 gig to an Express edition
since express can't run it.
